I felt I must share this first poem, "Sleep Forever," with you in order for you to completely understand the second poem "Voices."
Sleep Forever
"Swallow
Each one.
All of them
Wash them down."
They slide down your throat
And into your stomach.
"They will take effect soon.
Just wait.
Don't cry little girl.
There is no other way out.
You're already dead,
Your body just didn't know it.
Lie down.
Sleep will come,
The pain will end;
And death will be complete."
"God,
forgive me
For
the actions I make;
But I
see no other way out--
So my
life I must take."

Voices
"You're worthless."
"Your life is pointless."
"No one would even miss you."
"Why not just die?"
The voices in my head:
I thought I was rid of them,
But they have returned,
Haunting me.
They steal my sanity.
They make me mistrust everyone.
I listened to them once before,
And promised myself never again.
Now they are back
And they are louder than before.
"GO AWAY!
You will not be allowed to stay!
You will not win this time!
I will not listen!
I will fill my head with Truth!
You will be pushed back to barely a whisper!
Leave my head!
Get out of my thoughts!
You will not destroy me!
I will have this victory!"
