cakepoinsettiasThe Birthdays

His eyes are aglow
As he plays in the snow.
The sun peeks through,
But just for a minute or two.

So long ago,
On a day perhaps like today,
A baby was born,
And laid in the hay.

I can't help but wonder,
What His mother must have thought,
All the events that took place
In God's wonderful plot.

Did she know then,
What we know now?
That He'd conquer death,
And now at his feet we bow.

Did she understand
That the world He'd save
By shedding His blood.
How could we reject the gift He gave?

In the flickering lights,
His eyes are aglow.
He makes a wish,
And out they go.

Happy Birthday little boy
Laid in the hay.
Happy Birthday little boy
Born five years ago today.
