The Church Trial

The Judge stepped in and took command,
And called church leader to the stand.
There was a problem to be solved,
And many members were involved.
Leader sat down on the witness seat,
And boldly he began to speak.
"It's good that I should first be heard,
For I've been trusted with Your Word."

"Oh, no," the Judge said in despair,
"To all My servants I'll be fair.
It's true that I have chosen you,
But many others I've called too.
Be seated now and listen well,
For others have something to tell."

"I now call Meekness to the stand.
Come forward now and raise your hand."
She raised her hand and took the seat,
But she felt she should not speak.
Of all the voices we should hear,
She could do naught, but shed a tear.

"Self-Righteousness is next to speak.
Come on up and take a seat."
"Judge, you can trust my every word.
I've watched, I seen, and I have heard."
The Judged said firmly,
"Take your seat."
You watch and hear and then repeat,
But it is time you understand,
I am the Judge. You are just man."

The Judge then called for Unity.
All looked around her face to see
But words had caused her to lose heart,
And she felt she must depart.

There was one witness left to call
Who quietly waited in the hall,
But it was not the Judge's plan
To call this witness to the stand,
That was to be her choice alone,
But Love had felt no welcome shown.
The Judge looked back, in time to see
A tear roll slowly down Love's cheek.
He watched her turn and walk away,
But Satan was there and chose to stay.

The Judge then stood up from His chair.
The thud of His gavel filled the air.
"You're all dismissed, go on your way.
My verdict is you need to pray.
When Love returns this trial will end.
Don't let me see you here again."
